Workshop: Flower Still Life with Oil Pastels

As part of ARTE NOIR’s current Youth Art Showcase, join us for a hands-on drawing workshop exploring the beauty of floral still life using oil pastels. The session will be facilitated by ARTE NOIR youth intern Isha Hassan, with guidance and support from artist Nahshon Joshua.

Participants will move through a series of warm-up sketching exercises, explore the basics of color theory, and create their own vibrant still-life drawings inspired by a floral arrangement at the center of the class. Along the way, the workshop will highlight examples of oil pastel works by Black artists and introduce techniques for gesture, proportion, and color relationships.

Whether you’re new to drawing or looking to refresh your creative practice, this workshop offers a welcoming space to explore observation, color, and expressive mark-making.
