About the event
Presented in connection with ARTE NOIR’s current Youth Art Showcase, this immersive workshop invites participants to explore the foundations of figure drawing while working with a live model. The session will be facilitated by ARTE NOIR youth intern Isha Hassan, with support from artist Nahshon Joshua.
Participants will practice gesture drawing, proportion, and shading through a series of guided exercises and timed poses. The workshop will introduce key techniques, including skeletal structure, value scales, and light-to-dark shading, while encouraging artists to develop their own expressive approach to figure drawing. Examples of figure drawing by Black artists will also be shared for inspiration.
Designed for artists of all levels, this session offers a supportive environment to build confidence, strengthen observational skills, and deepen drawing practice.
RSVP required. Space is limited, and participation is first-come, first-served. A waitlist will be available once capacity is reached.
