It’s no surprise that the University of Washington has a pretty impressive list of alum on the student and faculty side. The legacy of Jacob Lawrence is memorialized on campus in the Jacob Lawrence Gallery, for instance.  But have you heard of Tiffany Dufu?

Dufu, University of Washington classes of ’96 & ’99, now lives in New York and is the president of the Tory Burch Foundation, an organization that empowers women entrepreneurs by providing access to capital, education, and community. On her website, there is a note: “I know what my tombstone will say: She got to as many women as she could.”

Considered a catalyst-at-large in the world of women’s leadership, Dufu is also the author of Drop the Ball: Achieving More by Doing Less, her memoir and manifesto that shows women how to cultivate the single skill they really need in order to thrive. In a subsequent book, Drop the Ball: Expect Less from Yourself and Flourish in Work and Life, Dufu urges an embrace of imperfection as a means of developing more meaningful relationships in our personal lives.

Tiffany Dufu is an example of personal high achievements with a view toward holding the doors open for other women and girls to enter their journeys toward professional and personal success. She was named to Fast Company’s League of Extraordinary Women and also serves as Founder and CEO of The Cru, a peer-coaching platform for women looking to accelerate their professional and personal growth.

Accomplished University of Washington alum, we lift up Tiffany Dufu for the ways in which she is moving through the corporate world and now leading the foundation arm of a major fashion leader, Tory Burch.
